About the workshop:

Charcoal is a wonderful medium with incredible potential for subtlety and expression. In this weekend workshop you will gain confidence in using this versatile medium - whether your using charcoal to create finished drawings or using it to complete an underdrawing for paintings on panel or canvas - this class has you covered!

Things you will learn:

• Choosing the right paper is important

• Manipulating charcoal with brushes, paper towel, paper stumps and fingers.

• Mark making techniques

• Separating light and dark shapes

• Layering charcoal

• Wipe out method for creating a drawing quicker

• Using charcoal on canvas or panel as an underdrawing for painting

• Fixing and protecting charcoal drawings after completion
