Master landscape painter, Gord MacDonald, will demonstrate his process and techniques of landscape painting in oil through a series of painting demonstrations providing students valuable insight into organizing ones thoughts as a painter. Starting with a photo reference, Gord will show how to edit it and how imagination can be added to achieve a final painting.
Based on the demos, students will be led through a painting of their own (using photo reference) employing demonstrated techniques to solve whatever problems they have that are keeping them from growing as painters.
Materials list will be sent upon registration.

About Gord MacDonald
Gordon MacDonald was born and raised in the Maritimes; he spent his childhood in New Brunswick and Newfoundland. He left the Maritimes in 1981 to study at the Toronto School of Art, the Ontario College of Art and Design, and the Art Students' League in New York City. During the nineties, Gord also studied at a private atelier.
MacDonald returned to the Maritimes in 1999, at which point he was vividly reacquainted with the surrounding landscapes. He then began to dedicate his time to recreating his emotional reaction to those places (sometimes imagined places), and the light and colour in them. He only paints from personal experience, which is life in Atlantic Canada.
Painting has become a worthy and challenging career that MacDonald wants to pursue for a lifetime. He has made his living from painting for the last 20 years.
His work is in corporate and private collections in North America and abroad, including the President of Ireland's residence in Dublin, Ireland, and the Canadian embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel.
